Tabcorp

Last Updated 10/06/2008

Situation
Michael Page was engaged to provide an exclusive on-site recruitment solution for Tabcorp, implementing a 180 FTE full service HR and Finance Shared Services function – Business Services. The project required the transition of 70 existing employees into this function and the externally sourcing of 110 positions.

Solution
Michael Page devised a project team structure which featured a full time On-site Manager and our specialist consulting resources. Our approach combined a mix of recruitment strategies dependant on the characteristics of the candidate market for the different roles including:

- A high profile press and on-line recruitment advertising campaign
- A dynamic mini-site which linked to both www.michaelpage.com.au and www.tabcorp.com.au with up to date information and linked all available opportunities
- Michael Page’s extensive database
- Referral and networking exercises
- Direct approaches where deemed appropriate
- Clearly defined core competencies for each role to facilitate streamlined assessment of candidates
- Full briefings and detailed candidate preparation packs for each candidate
- Hosting of a ‘recruitment centre’ approach for certain high volume roles to provide line managers with the ability to see greater volumes of candidates more efficiently
- Project management tools such as a dedicated project database, application management system, differentiated internal advertising and application mechanism and web based reporting

Outcome
The project plan was scheduled to ‘go-live’ in stages from May 2007 with a fully operational completion date scheduled for September 2007. The recruitment process for the external recruitment was launched in February 2007 and Michael Page had already successfully delivered 90% of the positions by June 2007, two months ahead of schedule with the remainder by the September deadline.
