About Our Client
Our client is being increasingly recognised as a peer leading FinTech organisation in the debt markets space. With a growing reputation the organisation is keen to add highly motivated, entrepreneurial people to its ranks. Our client's legal team is rapidly evolving and offers the successful applicant a unique opportunity to work autonomously on meaningful matters and to gain valuable experience in the Co. Sec. function.
With a direct line of report to the General Counsel this role offers the successful applicant an excellent opportunity to contribute to the strategic legal direction of the organisation. As a component of the role, the successful applicant will also have the opportunity to undertake significant tasks in relation to the Company Secretary function which will further embed them within the business. Lawyers from an in-house background with at least 4 years PAE, an entrepreneurial spirit and a demonstrable ability to work autonomously are encouraged to apply. Experience in banking and finance is essential, as is past experience with funds management and consumer credit frameworks.
The Successful Applicant
The successful applicant will come from an in-house legal background and will be able to demonstrate autonomous handling of matters in a high pressure, fast paced environment. A thorough understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks in relation to funds management and consumer credit is essential. The successful applicant will also be a confident communicator with the ability to interact with stakeholders in a manner that achieves effective commercial legal outcomes for the business. To be selected for this role, you must:
- be admitted to practice law in NSW;
- hold a NSW practising certificate and have at least 4 years PAE;
- have practice experience in retail banking and financial services
- be able to juggle multiple matters with competing deadlines;
- have experience in a Company Secretary or Assistant Company Secretary function; and
- be able to manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships.
The successful applicant will be a key legal advisor in the organisation and should be willing to engage in hard work, deal with unique matters and have an ability to come up with commercially viable solutions to legal problems.
