Job Description
The Principal Planner role focuses on the management and co-ordination of a wide range of development and strategic land use projects and policies, and providing rigorous and timely planning advice to internal and external stakeholders. As the Principal Planner you will have direct involvement in a number of exciting projects being progressed by the Urban Strategy team, including a housing strategy, planning scheme review and planning scheme amendments to implement activity centre structure plans and heritage studies. You will be afforded the opportunity to represent Council at VCAT. Essential to the Principal Planner role is the expectation that you maintain a high level of professionalism while dealing with members of the public and the different tiers of Local Government officials.

The Successful Applicant
The successful applicant will hold a tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline; have experience from a planning role in either the public or private sector. As the Principal Planner you will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skill and a real passion for developing and maintaining relationships, sound report writing skills will allow you to succeed in this role as well as the ability to speak confidently in a public forum.
