About Our Client
Our client is a leading manufacturer and supplier of ground support products for the underground mining industry. This wholly owned subsidiary of a multinational business is the only company of its type manufacturing in both NSW and Queensland and has experienced continuous growth and success over the past 10 years in the Australian market. Their business and trust of their clients is based upon their dedication to quality service and a quality product. With its Australian head office in NSW, their Queensland business is based out of Mackay and supports the majority of underground coal mines in Queensland - with further expansion expected in the very near future in both the coal and hardrock markets.

Job Description

Reporting directly to the Queensland General Manager, this Senior / Executive Management position is responsible for the technical management of products and mine services for their client's throughout Queensland. Operating in this role, you will divide your time between the office managing technical service matters and personnel and at clients' sites gaining a better understanding of their business needs. There will also be some interstate travel as required. Specific responsibilities include:

  • People management of mine services professionals
  • Establish and maintain client relationships throughout the underground mining industry
  • Provide Engineering / Geotechnical support to customers through: demonstrating knowledge of underground safety and compliance requirements, investigation and response to customer technical complaints or concerns, and being present for special product installations, introductions and/or special trails
  • Technical and professional report writing: labour/resource scheduling, audit programs and customer service tracking
  • Being active in product development: liaise with production management, R&D, proactive planning for future customer needs

The Successful Applicant
As this is a customer facing role, someone with prior mining industry exposure or a consulting background is highly desirable. A qualified Geotechnical Engineer will most likely suit this role, though this specific degree qualification is not mandatory. This role will suit a candidate looking to be involved in the mining industry, but desiring a move away from a site-based role with less time spent away from home. If you enjoy hands on work and believe safety and quality are paramount to customer satisfaction this is a role and culture you will fit in very well. Attention to detail regarding auditing and testing is required to provide adequate customer service as is the ability to train junior mine service personnel to carry out the same.
