Brisbane jobs market

Brisbane is a key employment hub for South-East Queensland and Australia as a whole, and it’s set to see further growth in the coming years. The population of Greater Brisbane is expected to grow to 3.18 million by 2031, with metropolitan Brisbane leading the way as one of the fastest growing capital cities in the country.

Of the 670,000 additional jobs forecast to be created in SEQ by 2031, 66% are expected to be located in metropolitan Brisbane, of which almost two thirds (290,000) will be in Brisbane City. While the CBD area is the economic powerhouse for the region, there’s no shortage in opportunities across the entire Greater Brisbane region.

The outlook for employment is positive across many industries, with growth expected to be highest in business services – including knowledge-intensive technical, professional and consulting services – over the next 20 years.

There will also be major growth and opportunities across the health, community, and education services. And with the Greater Brisbane jobs markets tipped to grow by 11% by 2019 (faster than the national average), it’s an opportune time to be making the next step in your career in Brisbane.
