What is Future Leaders?

Future Leaders is a two year programme developed to attract high calibre individuals who are typically graduates with one to three years' commercial experience. HSBC's objective is to fast-track these high-potential candidates into business, sales or operational leadership roles.

Training and Development

Participants of this programme are selected for a specific business group or department, where they will have access to accelerated business courses, tailored development plans and group development opportunities such as personal insight training, business simulations and leadership programmes.

Future Leaders' development is further enhanced by the close partnerships formed between participants and their managers. Future Leaders make real contributions to the business areas they are working in and gain valuable on-the-job training.

Beyond the two years of the programme, participants are continually assessed and provided with opportunities to be involved in special projects that they might otherwise not have gained exposure to.

Mentor Programme

At the end of the first year in the programme participants are asked to identify the qualities of a mentor that they require to meet their personal and professional goals. Human Resources assists in identifying and securing potential mentors. Once identified, mentors are introduced to the participants and a natural selection and alignment process occurs. These mentors are mainly very senior executives, or people who have a significant level of experience, particularly off-shore. Mentoring is an integral component of the Future Leaders Programme.
