Salary & Employment Outlook – Procurement & Supply Chain

At Michael Page we’ve surveyed more than 2,700 industry insiders to help us gain an understanding of movements within all of Australia’s major industries.

After adding our insights and salary guides, we’ve produced a series of overviews on employment and remuneration. Here are some key trends you could be affected by in the procurement sector:

  • Recruitment trends; the past five years has seen increased recognition of the procurement function; despite this, hiring activity has remained steady in 2015, and 54% of our respondents don’t expect to grow their teams this year
  • Employer sentiment; the past five years has seen consistent hiring across the supply chain sector, and this looks set to continue over the next 12 months
  • Just under three quarters of those we surveyed expect their direct employees to receive a pay rise in the next year, though 57% don’t expect to hand out bonuses

Current salary snapshot; the conditions in the procurement sector sees a senior buyer in a small-medium firm earning upwards of $85k, and a procurement coordinator in a large firm receiving up to $110k
