The Drug Court Clinical Advisor provides evidence-based guidance, treatment planning, and referral services for Drug Court participants.They conduct comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments to inform judiciary decisions on Drug and Alcohol Treatment Orders.The Clinical Advisor liaises with treatment providers, supports participants in achieving goals, and offers secondary consultation to the judiciary and Drug Court team.

About Our Client

Court Services Victoria (CSV) is a statutory entity, providing administrative support to key judicial bodies in Victoria, including the Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners Courts, as well as the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Judicial College of Victoria.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV), operating under CSV, is a critical jurisdiction with a long-standing commitment to delivering justice across metropolitan and regional Victoria.

The Drug Court (DC) is a specialised division within the MCV's Specialist Courts and Programs. It offers alternative sentencing for offenders with drug and/or alcohol dependencies, targeting those whose offences are linked to substance use.

Job Description

The clinical advisor is responsible for designing a treatment plan, liaising with alcohol and other drug services, and supporting the participant in achieving treatment goals as well as:

  • Maintain up to date knowledge around relevant research and evidence-based practise
  • Attend Drug Court hearings and participate in case conferences
  • Provide expert advice to the Drug Court and other key stakeholders including and not limited to court staff, drug treatment agencies and other Government and Non-Government organisations
  • Contribute to the development of continuous improvement processes such as policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with participants and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in the drug and alcohol and or relevant sectors
  • Relevant qualification and/or certificates in health, social work, welfare or related field is highly desire
  • Knowledge of Courts, sentencing act and the principles of Drug Courts is desirable
