About Our Client
Foodbank Victoria is an independent not-for-profit organisation with 90 years' experience providing food relief to individuals and families experiencing hardship. Foodbank are the largest provider of food relief in Victoria, including in times of disaster as part of the State Relief and Recovery Team.
Their vision is healthy food for all Victorians, yet 1 in 5 Victorians struggle to afford food and 1 in 5 children go to school or bed hungry.
To ensure they can reach as many people as possible, they work with food donors across the supply chain to source surplus food from farmers, manufacturers and retailers.
Foodbank work with more than 450 charity partners across the state to feed more than 140,000 people a month - a quarter of whom are children.
In 2018/19, they were able to distribute more than 10 million kilograms of staple, fresh and frozen foods, personal hygiene items and household products. This volume is the equivalent of putting 17.3 million meals on tables for people in need.
The Commercial Finance Manager will be responsible for-
Lead a team in Finance
Effective and productive management of direct reports, suppliers and volunteers within the department.
Ensure that Foodbank Victorias values and goals are understood and practiced throughout the team.
Ensure that the Annual Plan for the department is developed and met.
Perform regular reviews with employees, identifying and resolving performance issues, training and development requirements.
Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates staff and volunteers.
Support Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance across Foodbank Victorias.
Strong focus on enabling and supporting business ownership.
Provide financial insight and advice to Executive to optimise financial performance.
Provide financial analysis to drive operational performance and deliver commercial outcomes.
Independently evaluate the financial impacts and risks of business cases, new initiatives, commercial negotiations and tenders.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Lead and support stakeholders in creating a collaborative environment driving favourable cross-functional business outcomes.
Build links between finance and operational functions.
Drive continuous improvement of organisational processes, procedures, systems and reporting
Budgeting and forecasting
Assisting with the organisations budget process including annual and 3-year budget.
Deliver regular forecasting based on trend analysis providing an independent, organisational view.
Manage stakeholders to ensure timely completion of budgets.
Identify budget risks and mitigations.
Monitor the impact of operational activities on financial performance and variance from budget with a focus on emerging trends and risks.
Develop project accounting and reporting framework.
Ensure the chart of accounts reflects the project structure.
Drive optimal financial decision-making through the provision of timely, accurate and useful information to management.
Develop and implement allocation methodology to appropriately capture costs.
Develop dashboards, management reports and other tools to improve understanding of financial performance and decision making, and provide insights to stakeholders on business drivers and performance.
Provide analytics on financial and operational changes.
Support the ERP implementation including the chart of accounts and project accounting set up.
Ensure continuity of financial services to the business during implementation of ERP.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will be-
- CA/CPA Qualified
- Previous experience working in a commercial focused position
- Exposure having worked closely with non-finance stake holders adding commercial value to their division
- A thorough understanding of project finance, cost accounting and department reporting principals
- Previous team management experience
- Strong influencing skills working with senior stake holders
- An excellent understanding of internal and external compliance issues
What's on Offer
Foodbank, located in Yarraville will be offering $100,000- $110,000 plus super and salary packaging for this role. The position will be a mainly on-site role but with flexibility to work from home.
