Job Description

  • Lead a diverse team in delivering community education, engagement, public relations, and communications initiatives across digital, internal, and government channels.
  • Design and manage state-wide campaigns and education programs that align with the organisation's strategic objectives, ensuring they meet the needs of various stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement engagement and community education strategies, including supporting plans and policies for social media, marketing, events, and advertising to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders, including government departments, peak bodies, and community organisations, to drive effective collaboration and message distribution.
  • Stay at the forefront of best practices in communications, engagement, and education, contributing to the development of new initiatives and refining existing strategies.
  • Manage the day-to-day financial and reporting responsibilities for the team, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, ensuring the team operates in a safe, ethical, and culturally respectful environment.
  • Ensure adherence to workplace health, safety, and well-being practices.

Key Technical Requirements:

  • Proven experience in leading project teams and managing work plans to deliver successful communications outcomes.
  • Strong ability to engage, consult, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including across government and external partners, to deliver strategic media results.
  • Availability for occasional state-wide travel as required by the role.



Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to: Director, Strategic Engagement and Community Education
  • Direct reports: A team of up to five professionals



Leadership Framework:
This position is aligned with the Team Leader stream of the Queensland Government's Leadership Competencies for Queensland (LC4Q) framework, ensuring that leadership capabilities are developed and recognised in line with state government standards.

Delegations:
The position may involve exercising financial and human resources delegations in accordance with organisational policies.

Employment Conditions:
This role is offered under the Public Sector Act 2022, in line with the Queensland Public Service Officers and Other Employees Award and the State Government Entities Certified Agreement.
