Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Manager of Communications is an important member of the senior leadership team and plays a vital role in developing and executing the strategic direction and narrative, to strengthen community connection and advance strategies and projects to support the needs of the community.
Working closely with the CEO, executive and the management team, the role is responsible for the execution of a range of communications strategies and is responsible for driving key outcomes and deliverables that support the organisational goals.
Taking a proactive approach, you will develop and enhance key stakeholder relationships, grow and diversify audiences, evolve the communications team in-line with contemporary communications practices and lead new approaches to digital communications and audience engagement.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead, coach and inspire a team of communications specialists
Work collaboratively within the organisation to further the organisations communications capability
Build communication/engagement opportunities to showcase the organisations strategic priorities through building strong internal and external stakeholder support
Provide leadership and direction in the specifics of the function including web functionality, utilisation of social media and other online communications, engagement and customer service options
Develop systems and processes to provide effective communication and information which will assist individuals to participate in their communities of choice and be well informed of the services and other resources available to them
Liaise with the CEO and other senior staff to prepare appropriate strategic internal and external communication responses to organisational needs
Oversee content, the production and distribution of digital, print media and marketing content
Provide media liaison, organisational guidance and training to senior members of the organisation
Proactively manage the organisations reputation, identify issues and develop appropriate crisis management and mitigation strategies
Provide high level strategic communications and engagement advice to the CEO and Executive, that supports the positioning and direction of the organisation
The Successful Applicant
To be successful in the role you will be a supportive and emotionally intelligent leader, comfortable with ambiguity, have a growth mind-set and proven experience in managing change and developing a team. You will have a strong background in corporate communications and possess excellent communication skills, with a strong capability to inspire and engage and a solid understanding of current and emerging communications channels are a must.
