Job Description

  • Lead the design and development of data architecture frameworks, strategies, and solutions to ensure efficient data management and utilisation.
  • Evaluate existing data systems and propose enhancements to improve scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Define and maintain data standards, guidelines, and best practices for data integration, storage, and usage within the organisation.
  • Work closely with IT teams, analysts, and other stakeholders to integrate new data solutions with existing systems and applications.
  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and dictionaries to facilitate data management and governance.
  • Conduct data analysis and profiling to identify patterns, trends, and insights that inform decision-making and operational strategies.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure data privacy, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, data protection laws).
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members and data engineers.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends in data management, analytics, and architecture.



The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, or similar role, preferably in a large-scale enterprise environment or government agency.
  • In-depth knowledge of database management systems (SQL and NoSQL), data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration techniques and expertise utilising Big Data technologies including Hadoop, Spark or Kafka.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ERWin, ER/Studio) and familiarity with cloud-based data solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus.
