Job Description

As the Development Manager, you'll be responsible for:

  • Appraising new land opportunities for development potential
  • Completing feasibility studies, and due diligence when assessing sites
  • Land acquisition, negotiation and town planning - negotiate the purchase and sale of properties, including appointing solicitors and external consultants
  • Overseeing the design management process, including design documentation, approvals and budgets
  • Overseeing and supplying all development plans to Councils and Local Authorities
  • Prepare all documentation for the financing of the projects, and liaising with banks
  • Managing new build, refurbishment and redevelopment projects from end to end, including masterplanning, tendering, appointment of contractors/consultants, overseeing construction, and managing defects/liability periods

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in this role, you must have demonstrated experience as a Development Manager, with strong commercial knowledge. This position is not suitable for someone who is a Project Manager, looking to step into a Development Manager role. You will also:

  • Have outstanding communication skills that allow you to build relationships with clients, agents, consultants, Project Managers and other key stakeholders
  • Have the confidence to control a room, but also the humility to treat people with courtesy and respect
  • Be well-connected in the Development space. Personal relationships and networks are essential
  • Be commercially driven - have the ability to look for opportunities, win business, think critically and deliver the most profitable and high-quality development possible
  • Be a strategic thinker, natural problem-solver, and display a high level of emotional intelligence
  • Experience using EstateMaster will be highly advantageous
