Job Description

  • Lead forensic investigations into electrical failures, fire origins, and system malfunctions across residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Conduct detailed site inspections, evidence collection, and failure analysis.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, control systems, and power distribution networks to identify causation.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and expert witness statements suitable for legal and insurance contexts.
  • Provide expert testimony in court or arbitration proceedings as required.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge development.
  • Liaise with clients, insurers, legal teams, and other stakeholders to communicate findings and support resolution.
  • Stay abreast of industry standards, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies relevant to forensic electrical engineering.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's or Chartered Professional Engineer status preferred).
  • Electrical engineering professional experience across either the building service and/or the energy industry. Route cause and failure analysis expertise preferred.
  • Proven expertise in electrical failure analysis, fire investigation, and technical reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, Building Codes, and international electrical regulations.
  • Experience in litigation support or insurance-related investigations is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly.
  • High level of professional integrity and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel across the APAC region for investigations and client engagements.
