About Our Client

Our client is a well known, local Gladstone institution. They have an enormous pipeline of projects coming up from 2021 on-wards and as such are looking to add an Engineer to their Project team, ideally with an immediate start.

Job Description

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the delivery of engineering related infrastructure projects ensuring projects are delivered within budget and within scheduled time frames.

  • Comply with and enforce the DTMR Guidelines, Legislation, Regulations, Australian Standards and Engineering Standards in the performance of the duties. 
  • Action delegated customer requests effectively, addressed and resolved. 
  • Prepare technical assessments and documents. 
  • Carry out engineering investigations and actions associated with heritage and environment. 
  • Provide sound engineering advice to stakeholders, employees and customers and participate on various infrastructure related committees. 
  • Provide technical policy advice to prospective developers. 
  • Respond to public enquiries and dispute resolution and environment protection. 
  • Develop, implement and maintain an all-inclusive suite of design standards. 
  • Prepare, implement and review engineering design procedures and standard conditions. 
  • Review infrastructure planning and modelling projects ensuring compliance needs are met. 
  • Undertake infrastructure planning and modelling of Council's Infrastructure networks and provide recommendations for future required infrastructure works. 
  • Participate in capital infrastructure capacities reviews and make appropriate recommendations. 
  • Contribute to the development and regular review of Infrastructure Charges Schedules and Priority Infrastructure Plans. 
  • Develop and implement cost estimations and programming for maintenance and capital projects. 
  • Prepare and review professional engineering documents, reports, assessments and general correspondence.  Conduct project site inspections ensuring compliance and conducting progress meetings with staff and contractors. 
  • Coordinate and undertake the development, implementation and approval of management plans, procedures, and policies. 
  • Coordinate inter-directorate responses for engineering projects and development related enquiries and/or applications. 
  • Carry out safe operations of a Council vehicle in the performance of duties. 
  • Comply with statutory obligations of the Local Government Act 2009, the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and Regulation 2011 in the performance of duties in order to understand your role, accountability and responsibilities. 
  • Required to exercise the legislative powers in relation to entry onto private property for the purposes of performing Council works and/or monitoring/enforcing the provisions of legislation. 
  • Achieve all compliance elements of the role.

The Successful Applicant

1.Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline).

2. Knowledge of relevant Acts and Regulations, engineering guidelines and standards.

3. Analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills to effectively conduct a range of Investigative/Assessment duties.

4. Communication skills to liaise developers, service authorities, consulting engineers and Senior Management.

5. Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.
