Job Description

  • Contribute to the strategic planning process for the organization.
  • Act as a functional counterpart to the divisional management team and corporate finance.
  • Drive Enterprise Risk Management and complete quarterly risk reviews.
  • Provide financial insight into business strategy, expansion projects, and tenders.
  • Lead the Delegation of Authority process and ensure adherence to corporate governance.
  • Maintain robust financial controls, reviews, and reporting accuracy.
  • Deliver monthly/quarterly financial reports, forecasts, cash flow, and statutory accounts.
  • Coordinate the budgeting process across departments; prepare annual tax returns.
  • Conduct performance variance analyses, cost tracking, and capital expenditure reviews.
  • Challenge current practices, identify supplier benefits, and improve processes.
  • Monitor CAPEX expenditure vs. budgets, market, and capacity demands.
  • Develop improvement actions for working capital, payment terms, and inventory.
  • Ensure cost control within authorised CAPEX budgets.
  • Partner with the Commercial Manager on contract development and customer pricing.
  • Prepare customer budgets and financial models for key accounts.
  • Oversee and resolve customer claims, queries, and complaints.
  • Manage and develop the Finance Department with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and set annual people development objectives.
  • Foster engagement and identify training needs based on reviews and business requirements.
  • Ensure team resourcing, leave, and work schedules are managed effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with financial, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Lead actions, risk reviews, and reporting.
  • Implement stock management and financial policy roll-outs across the organization.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Finance Manager should have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA or CA
  • Proven expertise in financial management within the Transport & Distribution industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Proficiency in financial software and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
