General Manager Workforce Development
Help shape the future of an industry
Highly strategic and autonomous role
About Our Client
The Australasian Railway Association is the peak body for rail in Australia and New Zealand. They represent all sectors of the industry including private and public, passenger and freight operators, track owners and managers, manufacturers of rolling stock, construction companies, consultants and other suppliers. As the key advocacy body for all things rail, the ARA facilitates and communicates on behalf of the industry and strives to ensure a better rail future for all members.
With more than $A100 billion in spending committed to the rail sector and more due in the approaching years, the demand for industry skills already outstrips supply and this gap will continue to widen. Following a detailed skills gap analysis study of the rail labour market, the ARA is seeking to recruit a General Manager Workforce Development to assist the industry to ensure the skill demands of the growing rail industry are met.
The position itself reports to the CEO, has heavy board interest and would suit a candidate able to develop and implement a national strategy to address the recommendations identified in study. You will engage key stakeholders, support professional partnerships and bodies and manage the development, implementation, and delivery of workforce development programs. You will also be required to keep the ARA highly visible through the management of representation at key industry events and hold relationships within the education sector.
The Successful Applicant
We're looking for a person able to work autonomously, communicate extremely effectively with a spectrum of stakeholders and take ownership of a national portfolio that is key to the whole rail industry. You'll work to shifting priorities and combine this with the ability to understand major strategic objectives with short and long term deadlines.
What's on Offer
The ARA are offering a strong base salary, the opportunity to engage with market heads and a real chance to shape the future of a major part of Australia's workforce.
