Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Developing and implementing the HSE strategy in alignment with the Division Leadership Team to drive safety improvements across operations.

Monitoring and auditing compliance with relevant safety legislation, ensuring continuous improvement in safety systems and practices.

Leading risk identification processes and creating action plans to address safety gaps and mitigate risks.

Providing expert advice on dangerous goods handling, manual handling, and chain of responsibility to ensure safe operations.

Building partnerships with managers and employees to raise awareness and implement new safety initiatives across the division.

Preparing and presenting safety reports for management, supporting data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.

Managing work cover and return to work processes, ensuring proper compliance and employee support during recovery.

The Successful Applicant

Ideal candidate

  • 7+ years of experience in HSE management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in dangerous goods handling, psychological safety, and chain of responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian and NZ WHS standards and environmental regulations.
  • Proven track record of partnering with leadership to achieve positive safety outcomes.
  • Natural leader with the ability to simplify complex safety issues and focus on priorities.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting safety data to leadership and teams.
  • Experience in risk identification and creating action plans to address safety gaps.
  • Skilled in safety audits and ensuring compliance with legislation.
  • Self-aware, adaptable, and composed under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate and drive continuous improvement in safety culture and metrics.
  • Familiarity with construction products or building materials is a bonus.
