We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer to join our client's team on a 12-month fixed term contract. As a key member of the HSE team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across operations. Reporting directly to the HR Manager, you will have the opportunity to influence and implement best practices in safety and environmental management.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust HSE management systems and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead incident investigations, analyse root causes, and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Deliver comprehensive HSE training programs to employees and contractors, fostering a safety-conscious culture.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics, proposing initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to promote HSE awareness and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Confidently communicate with external auditing teams to facilitate audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with external standards and regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to drive ongoing enhancement of HSE initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven track record in a similar HSE Officer or related role, ideally within the industrial sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong understanding of safety legislation and safety auditing
