This role is a hands‑on IT engineering position responsible for designing, operating and securing infrastructure, cloud platforms and core systems across a multi‑campus School environment. Job Description

  • Hands‑on IT engineering role supporting a multi‑campus School environment
  • 5 days onsite, located close to Brisbane CBD
  • Design, implement and maintain on‑premise and cloud infrastructure
  • Own server, storage, backup and disaster recovery systems
  • Manage networking across LAN, WAN and Wi‑Fi environments
  • Administer and optimise Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Entra ID)
  • Support identity, authentication, single sign‑on and secure collaboration platforms
  • Implement and maintain cyber security controls across infrastructure, cloud and endpoints
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, mentoring and technical guidance to service desk staff
  • Deliver technical components of IT projects from design through to rollout
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, standards and system diagrams
  • Work closely with vendors and external specialists to resolve issues and deliver solutions
  • Support education‑specific systems such as LMS, SIS and classroom technologies
  • Ensure system reliability during teaching hours and peak academic periods
  • Implement internet safety, content filtering and student data privacy controls
  • Coordinate maintenance and upgrades around the academic calendar
  • Ensure compliance with child safety, WHS, and School policies and legislation

The Successful Applicant

A successful Infrastructure & Systems Engineer should have:

  • An excellent communicator who can explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and build strong relationships across the School community
  • A senior, hands‑on IT Infrastructure and Systems Engineer with strong ownership of cloud, infrastructure, networking and security environments
  • A collaborative team player who mentors others, partners closely with IT leadership and contributes positively to a supportive, service‑oriented culture
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise or multi‑site environments, ideally within education
  • Strong expertise across Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, identity, networking and cyber security
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex, high‑impact technical issues
  • Experience delivering and supporting IT projects end‑to‑end
  • A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, stability and security
  • Strong documentation skills with attention to detail and best practice standards
  • An understanding of child safety, compliance and professional boundaries
  • A values‑aligned professional motivated by purpose‑driven work in a School environment
