About Our Client
A major player in their industry, this organisation are well reputed within the retail world and have a brand that is known to many on a global scale. Following a recent acquisition, they are now working through a period of change and future growth which results in the need for an Interim Financial Controller to join the leadership team to ensure they are well placed to operate as efficiently as possible.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring that company financial reporting processes and procedures are fit for purpose and aligned with broader business strategy, most notable future growth. The Interim Financial Controller will take the lead on the following tasks;
- implement a set of monthly accounts (P+L, balance sheet, cash-flow)
- introduce and implement necessary internal controls for financial reporting
- introduce and provide interpretation and commentary to the business on sales performance
- introduce a set of KPI reporting
- align all reports as best as possible with the broader group strategy to ensure consistency and efficiency
- assess if the existing accounting software is fit for purpose
Given changes within the business, the Financial Controller must be sensitive to existing employees, and be appreciative of a possible resistance to change when undertaking the contract.
The Successful Applicant
In order to be successful in this role you must be an experienced finance leader with a professional qualification to support your technical experience and working experience. Given the role requires a lot of implementation of processes as outlined above - a track record in this area is required. A background in retail would be beneficial but most importantly, you must be passionate about the brand, excited by the company strategy and be able to balance technical ability with the right approach to instilling change in what is already a fantastic business.
What's on Offer
This is a six month contract to start mid January 2017. Given the unique nature of the role and the ability to add a lot of value very quickly you must be able to commit to the contract and work through the key deliverables in partnership with the business owners.
