Darebin Council is a local government body located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. This organisation offers over 120 different services to the community with approximately 1200 employees. The City of Darebin is a vibrant, diverse, and creative city with the council looking to enhance that in every aspect.

Job Description

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage the Council's IT Project services function including business engagement, program delivery, reporting and establishment of portfolio budgets
  • Lead continual improvement and operational excellence through sound project management practises
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Council Plans such as the IT and Smart Cities Strategy.
  • Performance-manage and engage service providers, design services and appliances based on robust business cases.

The Successful Applicant

Please see the below for the non-negotiable in a successful candidate:

  • Strong PMO background
  • Demonstrated significant experience in managing IT Projects in similar setting to the City of Darebin.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in managing a small team of technical staff and contractors.
  • Experience in managing IT vendors and external contractors.
  • Experience in undertaking tender processes for the acquisition of new or replacement IT systems.
  • Sound technical IT skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical IT solutions.
