This role is a critical member of the supply chain team focusing on managing the movement of shipments from factories in China to our clients' warehouses across Australia and also to customer sites across the world. It is a hands-on logistics role with a strong focus on management of freight forwarder performance along with relationships with end users, customs authorities and other key stakeholders.

About Our Client

Our client is a rapidly growing business providing equipment and consumables for the mining and resources sector, particularly in drill and blast operations. They have a wide range of products and customers in major mining operations across the world.

Job Description

  • Manage export/import operations by completing all necessary paperwork, preparing and reviewing customs documentation, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, and coordinating with customs brokers and authorities for clearance.
  • Optimise international trade efficiency by managing duties, tariffs, and import/export restrictions while liaising with shipping agents and brokers to minimise costs.
  • Prepare and process international sales orders and quotes, coordinating with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers to ensure smooth transactions.
  • Maintain and update logistics records by entering shipment details, inventory records, and customs documentation into the system while ensuring accuracy in orders, invoices, and logistics reports.
  • Ensure timely delivery of shipments by monitoring logistics performance, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with offshore manufacturing facilities to ensure timely importation of outsourced products and facilitate logistics for Dangerous Goods shipments under International Trade rules.
  • Process requisitions and create purchase orders for MTI Group companies while ensuring all purchases and services meet quality standards.
  • Work closely with the Accounts and R&D teams, understanding their requirements to support financial planning, procurement, and product development objectives.
  • Optimise SKUs and freight costs by managing packing quantities, consolidating shipments, and reviewing international and domestic transport expenses for efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and reporting

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A strong background in international logistics operations, either in an internal role or with a Freight Forwarder
  • Being able to communicate fluently in written and spoken Mandarin is a must
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with inventory management in a distribution function is highly regarded.
