Job Description

This role is responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of a large‑scale battery storage asset, while also supporting additional renewable energy sites across South Australia. You will act as the site‑based technical lead, managing HV electrical activities, maintenance planning, subcontractors, SCADA monitoring, incident response, and ensuring all work meets safety, performance, and contractual obligations

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Maintenance

  • Manage day‑to‑day operations and maintenance of a battery storage asset and supporting renewable sites.
  • Implement and improve O&M procedures alongside the Operations Manager.
  • Carry out HV switching operations and support safe electrical work.
  • Use SCADA systems to monitor asset performance, respond to alarms, and manage grid‑related operational requirements.



Safety & Compliance

  • Lead on‑site safety practices and ensure compliance with all HSE requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, manage reporting, and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with grid performance standards, including managing dispatch controls and resolving non‑conformances.



Subcontractor & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractor activities, including scope and proposal reviews.
  • Work closely with internal engineering, safety, finance, and project teams to support service delivery.
  • Manage communication with clients and site stakeholders.



Maintenance Planning & Reporting

  • Use the CMMS to plan, schedule, manage, and close out maintenance work orders.
  • Ensure timely repair and preventive maintenance activities to support long‑term asset reliability.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate operational reports and documentation.



Technical Support & Project Interface

  • Support commissioning activities and transitions from development to operations.
  • Engage with equipment suppliers on technical assessments, pricing, and procurement support.
  • Assist with grid connection processes and liaise with relevant network and market operators.

The Successful Applicant

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Electrician with High Voltage Switching Operator training.
  • Experience planning, performing, and supervising HV switching activities.
  • Proven capability managing end‑to‑end Operations & Maintenance of power assets.
  • Ability to view, interpret, and extract SCADA data to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Strong experience managing subcontractors against scope, performance, and contractual requirements.
  • Demonstrated health, safety, and environmental management experience across operational environments.
  • Solid understanding of general engineering principles relevant to site operations.
  • Confident communicator able to engage effectively with internal teams, contractors, and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in the renewable energy sector.
  • A proactive team member with the ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • Experience supporting project delivery and working across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven expertise in electrical power engineering, including grid connection considerations.
  • Experience commissioning renewable assets, particularly solar farms.
  • Background as a Senior Project Engineer, including EPC turnkey pricing and commercial/technical input.
  • Ability to contribute to EPC project development, including planning, design inputs, estimating, and scheduling.
  • Understanding of time and motion efficiencies relevant to solar farm construction and repetitive work packages.
  • Strong ability to communicate with colleagues, contractors, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders.



Desirable

  • Experience working on renewable energy assets, ideally battery storage systems (BESS) and solar farms.
  • Training will be provided for candidates new to battery operations.
