Job Description

The main activities and accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that all operations are performed in a professional, efficient, safe and cost-effective manner to provide quality service to the client
  • Ensure that all equipment, plant and substances used are suitable for the task and are kept in good working order. This includes the regular maintenance and servicing of equipment which will require close liaison with the workshop/maintenance
  • Monitor department's performance to ensure service quality standards are being maintained; identify any areas for improvement and discuss recommendations with Management
  • Maintain close liaison with operational supervisors and coordinators to ensure full awareness of project progress and problems. Ensure high quality service is continually provided to achieve both the project and client performance indicators
  • Ensure that scheduling, planning and forecasting of the forward workload is regularly updated to ensure optimum use of resources
  • Review operational requirement and business needs; may propose requirements for capital expenditure to support future business requirements
  • Ensure that all invoicing is actioned in a timely manner and queries resolved as soon as possible to ensure payment and meet DSO targets
  • Ensure that the latest revision of documentation is used and outdated versions are removed from circulation; ensure that operational supervisors and crews are informed of, and understand any changes to, operations procedures and job planning paperwork
  • Ensure that all incidents and non-conformances are reported in line with the appropriate procedures and deadlines; ensure that all incidents are investigated, and corrective actions raised as required; where appropriate, participate in incident investigations
  • Ensure that equipment utilisation is monitored and that unutilised equipment is clearly identified; as necessary ensure that all 3rd party rental items are tracked to make certain that they are returned to the supplier at the earliest opportunity
  • Overall responsibility for the department budgets including gaining approval and then ensuring work plans etc. are put in place to achieve them. Be prepared to continually review expenditure and highlight any differentials to management. Prepare budget action plans for management review
  • Maintain close liaison at all times with clients or their representatives; seek to identify any further business opportunity
  • Develop a department recruitment and development plan that will meet the requirements of clients' operations and future growth opportunities of the company
  • Supervise direct reports to ensure all operational, delivery, safety, Quality Management and financial targets are met
  • Liaise with the team members, internal departments and clients as and when required to ensure all aspects of the operations are discussed with the relevant parties to ensure effective communication to allow continued safe operations and task completion as per plan and budget

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in your application you will have a exceptional background in an operational leadership capacity providing

  • 10+ years experience in a similar capacity. Industry and services based experience is critical.
  • High levels of operational leadership experience interfacing with customers and internal teams to deliver key deliverables.
  • P&L management experience
  • Project management experience
