A well‑established organisation with a national footprint is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team in Brisbane's Western suburbs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking full ownership of end‑to‑end payroll, is confident with EBA and Modern Award interpretation, and has a proactive, solution‑focused mindset.

Job Description

The Payroll Officer will:

  • Ensure the accurate processing of end to end payroll
  • Create new employee profiles within the payroll system and ensure all staff information is kept accurate and up to date.
  • Check, validate, and process timesheet data, ensuring it is entered into the payroll system correctly and on schedule.
  • Generate a variety of monthly payroll-related reports, including items such as payroll tax, government deductions, union and garnishee obligations, severance calculations, and superannuation contributions.
  • Carry out annual payroll requirements, including payroll tax reconciliations, issuing end‑of‑year employee statements, and reporting any fringe benefit obligations.
  • Coordinate and process payroll tax and superannuation payments in line with compliance deadlines.
  • Complete payroll-related general ledger reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Provide ongoing assistance to the finance team with routine accounting activities and administrative duties.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Payroll Officer should have:

  • A proven track record within a similar role
  • A strong understanding of payroll systems and processes..
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • A thorough knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and compliance.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
