In the past 5 years our client's Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team has been the lead advisor on more than 150 nationally significant construction and infrastructure projects and disputes. They are focused on providing end-to-end legal support on infrastructure projects - from project structuring, advice on procurement options, financing, tender strategy, contract documentation and negotiation through to contract administration, maintenance issues and dispute resolution.

This team offers a comprehensive range of legal services for complex large scale property development transactions, and construction and infrastructure projects acting on behalf of government, developers, construction companies and corporate clients. Their team has worked on, and continues to work on, all of the major deals which define and continue to change the built landscape of Australia. They offer their clients an end to end solution which allows them to see the project from conception until completion. The team also has a busy dispute resolution practice, including litigation in all superior courts, domestic and international arbitration, and adjudication.

In this role you will work alongside a national leading Partner who is highly regarded across Australia and the existing team, who are operating on a truly national basis from the Canberra office, including by leading major development and construction projects in New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania, the Northern Territory, and the Australian Capital Territory. However, there will also be close contact with other leading lawyers working in the broader national team on large scale projects.

Job Description

An opportunity currently exists in our clients Canberra office for a Senior Associate with strong front end property and construction experience to join their national team. This work involves early stage advisory work in structuring major projects as well as drafting and negotiation for major development and infrastructure projects and general construction matters. There are also a range of broader property, planning, and environment advisory elements which are connected with the significant precinct development projects which are in progress.

The Successful Applicant

Seeking and welcoming applications from Lawyers with a minimum 4-8 years PQE. Ideally, you will have specialist major projects, infrastructure or construction industry experience and are looking to cement your career in a market leading top tier practice. In addition to your legal knowledge, you will have an ability to manage strong client relationships and complex transactions with minimal supervision and have the ability to provide guidance and mentoring to the junior lawyers in the team.
