Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join their dynamic Public Law - Commercial team in Canberra. Collaborating with distinguished partners in a renowned national firm, you will be part of a team known for delivering exceptional legal services to government clients.

Their team is cohesive and supportive, dedicated to producing work of the highest quality. You will benefit from working with a collaborative and productive group, including innovative lawyers who lead the market in emerging technology commercial work, such as cloud services and AI.

Your primary focus will be advising Australian government clients on a variety of ICT, government procurement and contracting, and commercial matters, with a particular emphasis on ICT projects. You will engage in some of the most complex, high-value, and nationally significant projects undertaken by governments.

The Successful Applicant

We are seeking a candidate who can provide practical and solution-oriented ICT, procurement, and commercial advice, along with high-quality contract drafting for government agencies. You will also play a crucial role in supervising other lawyers, contributing to business development, and supporting partners in a genuine, innovative, and collaborative team environment.

About you

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • 5+ years' experience as a commercial lawyer working with government clients,
  • Procurement and general commercial law experience,
  • Strong technical, analytical, drafting and research skills,
  • A collaborative and team-focused attitude,
  • Strong emotional intelligence and inter-personal skills,
  • Motivated, with a keenness to learn and innovate,
