As a firm that prides themselves as professionals in the Canberra market they offer bookkeeping, payroll, BAS and financial services to a diverse client base in Canberra. They have a team of 9 staff servicing over 200 clients to manage their finances and bring complete peace of mind that their finances are taken care of. The team prides themselves on consistency and excellence and leverage off of a very strong reputation in the Canberra market.
They are seeking to recruit a Senior Bookkeeper to join a team that has been working together for a number of years. This role will be responsible for a variety of functions within the team including hands on client work and dealing with ad-hoc client enquiries that requires thinking on your feet and delivering excellent customer service.
Your role as Senior Bookkeeper will have the following responsibilities:
- General bookkeeping, BAS preparations & payroll
- Responding to ad-hoc client requests and general enquiries relating to bookkeeping processes and software, including Xero and MYOB
- Internal training, upskilling and assistance with coordinating workloads and prioritising activities
- External training provided to clients for set up and use of Xero/MYOB and related applications (Ezzybills & WorkFLow Max)
- Identification of opportunities to improve processes, service delivery, productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness
The Successful Applicant
You'll be someone with a strong background in bookkeeping as well as a thorough understanding of BAS preparations and payroll and an innate ability to encourage and motivate staff members through mentoring, skills development and leveraging individual team member's strengths.
Ideally you will have a tertiary qualification in accounting or bookkeeping and be a registered BAS Agent with a minimum of 5 year's experience in bookkeeping within a small to medium sized business.You will also be familiar with a range of direct and indirect taxation issues. An added advantage would be experience in drawing up working papers for accountants and some experience in financial accounting.
First-class verbal and written communication skills are non-negotiable as this role works closely with clients. Being superbly organised, very hands on in delivering outcomes and having the ability to problem solve and prioritise a variety of tasks, are key. In addition to this, you will have a keen eye for detail as well as the ability to adapt your delivery and communication style to suit a diverse client base whilst always maintaining a professional manner.
