About Our Client

My client is a retail/wholesale juggernaut in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne with a multibillion annual turnover.

Job Description

  • Own monthly P&L reporting and analysis, including reviewing journals, overseeing balance sheet items, and ensuring accuracy of reconciliations completed by junior analysts.
  • Deliver commercial insights through budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, KPI reporting and quarterly business reviews, partnering with operational leaders to improve performance.
  • Prepare and review business cases, capital evaluations and scenario modelling to support strategic and operational decision‑making.
  • Lead process and operational improvement initiatives, working cross‑functionally
  • Develop and improve reporting tools, including building Power BI dashboards, automating manual reports, and establishing new commercial reporting frameworks.
  • Provide day‑to‑day oversight, review and coaching to junior analysts across payroll, sales/margin and variable cost reporting streams.
  • Support compliance and governance requirements including tax information support, financial controls, and participation in year‑end and audit processes.
  • Operate as a "mini commercial manager," taking ownership of higher‑value commercial work, influencing stakeholders, and stepping into leadership responsibilities aligned to future Finance Manager progression.

The Successful Applicant

  • Tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance or similar
  • CA/CPA qualification
  • An ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
  • A proactive, process improvement mindset - question the status quo!
  • Strong technical accounting fundamentals - Big 4/Mid Tier background a bonus
  • Demonstrated analytical ability in a large, complex organisation is ideal
  • Experience with Power BI/dashboarding highly regarded
  • High powered excel capability
