Our client is a Brisbane-based leader in electrical engineering, delivering turnkey solutions across industrial power generation, mining, and renewable energy. They are an engineering and project delivery firm specialising in high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) power system design, analysis, and commissioning. With a growing team and a strong project pipeline, the company is seeking a senior leader to help drive technical excellence and team performance.

Job Description

Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong experience in both primary and secondary design for high voltage (33-66kV) systems. This role is ideal for a technically proficient engineer who enjoys hands-on design, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the delivery of complex power engineering projects. This role reports to the Engineering Lead - Engineer and supports the delivery of major industrial and renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver detailed primary and secondary electrical designs for HV substations and industrial power systems
  • Develop and review protection schemes (excluding PLC programming)
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure project success
  • Provide peer reviews and support junior engineers
  • Participate in occasional site visits (every couple of months)
  • Drive innovation in electrical design practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support project bidding and proposal development by providing technical input and estimates
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards and industry regulations
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, including utilities and regulatory bodies, to facilitate project approvals
  • Contribute to strategic planning for the electrical engineering team's growth and capability development

Candidate Profile

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in HV electrical design (33-66kV)
  • Proficient in protection/ secondary and primary design
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Full Australian working rights
