The business continues to invest heavily in payroll systems and process improvement, and is currently out to tender for a new HRIS, with this role playing a key part in its implementation and success.

Job Description

As the Senior Manager, Payroll, you will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of timely, accurate and compliant payroll services across the organisation. This role combines operational leadership, systems ownership, compliance oversight and ongoing transformation.

You will:

  • Oversee and manage all payroll operations, systems and controls to ensure complete compliance with legislation, Awards and enterprise agreements
  • Lead payroll projects, including system changes, workforce management enhancements and the implementation of the new HRIS
  • Drive continuous improvement across processes, reporting, governance and customer service
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across P&C, Finance, IT and senior leadership, providing specialist advice and building strong relationships
  • Manage payroll audits, statutory reporting, system updates, testing and payroll‑related risk management
  • Contribute to a positive team culture through coaching, capability development and collaborative leadership

The Successful Applicant

You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading complex, high‑volume end‑to‑end payroll operations
  • Strong technical knowledge of payroll legislation, Awards, agreements and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing payroll systems, upgrades, testing and implementation projects
  • Ability to lead a high‑performing team and foster a positive, customer‑focused culture
  • Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills and the ability to influence across all business levels
  • High‑level analytical capability and confidence with payroll reporting and audit processes
