Job Description

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical expertise associated with power and instrument transformers, covering all voltage levels from 66 kV and below.
  • Providing expert input on asset management strategies and philosophies.
  • Providing expert input to power and instrument transformer performance and technical specifications.
  • Providing expert input to the development of equipment standards.
  • Contributing towards maintenance policies and practices.
  • Initiating projects (developing concepts, preparing business cases, and project handover documentation).
  • Supporting the implementation of asset management and asset replacement initiatives.
  • Supporting Network Operations to achieve annual capital and operational works plans.
  • Assessing and reviewing the condition of power and instrument transformers.
  • Reviewing/auditing asset-related databases.
  • Investigating and analyzing power and instrument transformer equipment failures or problems, drafting reports, etc.
  • Making technical decisions in relation to power and instrument transformers.
  • Approving relevant technical documentation.
  • Participating in regulator and internal audits as required.
  • Providing support for emergency response events, as required.



Measures of Success

  • 100% Delivery of capex and opex works programs approvals for cables and distribution lines from year to year.
  • All power and instrument transformer documentation kept current from year to year.
  • Incident and failure investigations are completed within required timeframes to the required quality.
  • Audit and investigations actions are completed within the required timeframes.
  • Technical and operational support provided in required timeframes.
  • Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (RIFR) targets.
  • Mission Zero conversation targets.
  • Customer service and SLA targets.
  • Adherence to corporate values.
  • Collective Asset Management outcomes.

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree qualified in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of engineering / asset management experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety outcomes.
  • Understanding of Asset Management leading practices, frameworks, and relevant standards.
  • Understanding of relevant Regulatory frameworks and legislation.
  • Understanding of relevant Australian and International standards and industry codes of practice.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate failure and incident investigations.
  • Ability to connect with organisational strategy and identify what is required at a tactical level to achieve it.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of distribution system components, equipment, and technologies, with a focus on power and instrument transformers and emerging trends and innovations.
  • Knowledge of relevant condition monitoring and assessment techniques for power and instrument transformers.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimise asset performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • An advanced level of reasoning skills and engineering judgement.
