Job Description

  • Deliver protection designs for substations up to 500kV, including calculations, reports, relay settings files and configurations.
  • Peer review designs undertaken by others.
  • Perform FAT's & SAT's using protection relay test sets.
  • Contribute to project tender documents.
  • Provide technical and construction/commissioning support.
  • Liaise with clients as the technical SME
  • Preparation of substation secondary designs where required.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior protection Engineer should have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • CPEng desirable, or eligibility to obtain within 6 months.
  • Minimum 6 years (Senior) / 12 years (Principal) related experience.
  • Experience working with power utilities desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience working on TransGrid or other Australian transmission utility projects will be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge and understanding of protection fundamentals, protection schemes, and IEC61850.
  • Experience in fault studies using power system modelling software, e.g. Digsilent, PSSE, ETAP.
  • Experience in relay configuration software, e.g. SEL Acselerator, Digsi, etc.
  • Experience in substation secondary designs for substations up to 500kV desirable.
