My client is a multinational commercial law firm who maintains and offers their clients market leading legal services. As one of Australia's largest and most highly respected fully integrated law firms, my client is seeking to grow their commercial/ corporate/ defence practice due to an astonishing influx of work from both their Australian and International clients. This is an exciting opportunity for a Special Counsel (5+ years PQE) level to join their leading Canberra Office. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in Commonwealth Government contracting advising for commonwealth agency clients, corporate governance, procurement advising and exposure to major projects, general commercial work and IT/IP law experience. Furthermore this role has a strong defence focus thus a background or interest in Department of Defence work is highly preferred.
The Successful Applicant
To be successful in this role, you will be a strong and confident professional with proven commercial experience and understanding of the Commonwealth Government. You will uphold exceptional communication and drafting skills, maintain a controlled and well organised approach to your matters and hold good academics.
You will be a:
- Professional who enjoys working in fast paced environments with excellent support systems,
- The ability to work proactively and provide reliable and effective legal advice
- An individual who is comfortable with business winning, client engagement, who operates autonomously and who can hit the ground running
- A strong understanding of defence related clients.
Candidates should also have an AGSVA security clearance or general baseline, or the ability to obtain an AGSVA security clearance.
