System Accountant

This is a 6-Month FTC within a dynamic complex organisation. This role is responsible for supporting, optimising and maintaining core finance systems to ensure accurate financial data, smooth month‑end processing and compliance with audit and policy requirements. Acting as the subject matter expert, you will partner closely with finance users and technical teams to resolve issues, improve processes and support system enhancements.

Job Description

  • Provide expert support for core finance applications, acting as the subject matter expert for assigned systems and modules
  • Support daily, monthly and year‑end finance processing to ensure reporting deadlines are met
  • Maintain and configure finance systems, including chart of accounts, business units, workflows and user access
  • Monitor and reconcile system interfaces between internal and external applications
  • Respond to complex system and user issues, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors where required
  • Ensure finance systems comply with internal policies, audit requirements and regulatory standards
  • Develop and maintain high‑quality system documentation, user guides and process materials
  • Identify opportunities to improve system functionality, data accuracy and process efficiency
  • Support finance system projects, including design, testing, implementation and post go‑live support

The Successful Applicant

A successful System Accountant should have:

  • A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of core finance processes including General Ledger, AP, AR and Purchasing
  • Hands‑on experience supporting or managing large ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft)
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to understand complex data flows
  • Experience producing clear, structured system and process documentation
