This organisation is a national leader in the field of pharmaceutical wholesale and distribution. They are investing heavily in improving their operational performance and compliance targets, and the Data & Analytics stream is central to this.

Job Description

Working cross-functionally with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders, the Data Engineering Technical Lead will oversee the implementation of data architecture, and lead the modelling, design, development, and implementation of data engineering solutions running on a cloud environment.

Key accountabilities will include:



  • Ensuring the organisation's Data Engineering platform and products aligns to global best practice in terms of engineering and operations.


  • Oversee the implementation of data architecture, and lead the modelling, design, development, and implementation of data engineering solutions running on the cloud environment.


  • Utilising your extensive experience in data warehousing, data engineering, data modelling, and data integration to drive the Data & Analytics function.
  • Directly be involved in hiring of Data Engineers in the team as they continue to grow.



Please note that while this is a leadership role, this is NOT a people management position. The Technical Lead, alongside the rest of the Data Engineering and Analytics team, will report to the Manager of Data Engineering.

The Successful Applicant

Key skills required include:

  • Very strong Data modelling skills (including Dimensional and Relational modelling), as well as Data warehouse and Power BI development.
  • 4-5 years Technical Leadership experience of a Data Engineering team, remaining hands on throughout.
  • Strong in Azure DataFactory (ADF), Power BI, Power Automate, and Snowflake.
  • Azure DevOps (including developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines) and Github.
  • Experience with the implementation of Data Governance frameworks, and a good understanding of Data Architectures.
  • Agile (Scrum Master certification would be a bonus)
  • Solid stakeholder management experience (both technical and non-technical)
  • Strong understanding of DataOps and Automation



Nice to have (not essential):

  • Data Science skills
  • Python / R / Scala or similar
  • Bash or Powershell scripting
  • Healthcare or Logistics (Distribution) industry exposure
