About Our Client

Our client is a leading travel insurance brand based in Sydney's north. They now have a greenfield opportunity for creative and commercially minded Product Designer to build visually appealing and elegant design experiences for their customers to help them feel safe as they return to travel in a post-pandemic world.

Job Description

The Product Designer will be an essential part for being accountable and responsible for uncovering customer insights that inform the articulation of customer problems, and then develop creative and visually stimulating solutions for their new customer facing applications.

The role will be responsible for;

  • Provide design leadership for new product development and existing product improvements
  • Develop sketches, wireframes, or prototypes for solutions, testing them with customers, or iterating on them based on usability testing results ;
  • Flesh out wireframes and prototypes with the Visual Designer to prepare them for development;
  • Develop the research methods for understanding customer problems, ideally before they arise;
  • Initiate, plan and conduct research on customer problems that have been anticipated;
  • Oversee the end-to-end UX/UI design process, including identifying and managing expectations, identifying research objectives, conducting initial business and user research, translating requirements into IA and UX designs, and running usability testing sessions;
  • Lead collaboration with the broader development team, including Engineers, Quality Engineers and Business Analysts to ensure delivery against agreed priorities as agreed with the business stakeholders;
  • Use research to learn and understand our customers' worlds to craft experiences that meet their needs;
  • Present customer insights from research or usability testing across the organisation, from the executive steering committee to development team;

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in this role you will have have skills in the following;

  • A strong and successful career in similar roles in various industries (i.e. UX/UI Design, User Interface Design, User Experience Design) with a strong Portfolio to showcase your best work;
  • Demonstrated expertise in UX/UI design principles and processes (e.g. Interaction theory, style guides, UI patterns, design systems, agile development, story mapping)
  • High-level understanding native programming languages including general capabilities and constraints;
  • Demonstrated expertise in Human Centred Design methodologies;
  • Knowledge of standards and best practices for UX/UI design for iOS, Android;
  • An understanding into UX research frameworks and how to apply this to best practice design principles
  • You are passionate about getting out into the field to ask questions, talk to people, deeply understand users and their problems;
  • You have excellent visual design skills and are able to communicate concepts through visual tools, such as storyboards, sketches, wireframes and prototypes of low and high fidelity
  • Polished Stakeholder management to speak literally and technically with all types of stakeholders when required.
