Job Description

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for:

  • End-to-end processing of monthly and fortnightly payrolls
  • Interpretation and application of relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll legislation
  • Processing employee commencements, terminations and payroll changes
  • Management of leave, superannuation and payroll deductions
  • Responding to payroll-related queries from employees and internal stakeholders
  • Payroll reconciliations and reporting activities
  • Ensuring payroll compliance with Fair Work, taxation and legislative requirements
  • Assisting with payroll projects, audits and continuous improvement initiatives

The Successful Applicant

The successful Payroll Officer should have:

  • Previous experience in a Payroll Officer role, ideally within a large or complex organisation
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards and enterprise agreements
  • Experience working with high-volume payroll processing
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exposure to payroll systems, ideally Preceda
