We are seeking an Accountant - Management Accounting for a 6-Month temporary contract to support budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and business partnering activities within a large government organisation. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a high-performing finance team and operational leaders, provide strategic financial insights and contribute to key financial planning. This role is based in the eastern suburbs in Perth.

Job Description

  • Prepare, maintain, reconcile and monitor budgets and forecasts.
  • Support long-term financial planning initiatives.
  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly management reports and financial analysis.
  • Provide insightful commentary and recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Monitor business unit performance against budgets and strategic objectives.
  • Manage financial reporting for significant capital works projects.
  • Support asset capitalisation and year-end reporting processes.
  • Partner with operational leaders and provide financial advice across the organisation.
  • Prepare presentations and financial reports for senior leadership.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial systems, project ledgers, and chart of accounts.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, policies, and legislation

The Successful Applicant

A successful Accountant - Management Accounting should have:

  • Ability to start immediately or within short notice.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience within management accounting, budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting month-end and year-end processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office proficiency, TechOne experience is highly desirable
  • Experience within a large corporate, government, infrastructure, or local government environment will be highly regarded
