The firm focuses on building long-term client relationships and delivering practical, commercially focused advice to support growth and financial performance.Job DescriptionYou will manage a portfolio of small-to-medium business and private clients, taking ownership of their compliance requirements while developing a strong understanding of their businesses, financial goals and broader advisory needs.The role suits an experienced accountant who is confident working directly with clients, enjoys solving business and taxation problems, and is ready to take greater responsibility for reviewing work and mentoring junior team members.Key responsibilitiesPrepare and review annual financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.Prepare and review Business Activity Statements, Instalment Activity Statements and other taxation compliance requirements.Assist clients with tax planning and tax-minimisation strategies.Manage ASIC and other corporate compliance requirements.Review client accounting records and identify issues, risks and opportunities.Analyse financial performance, cash flow and key business metrics.Assist with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.Provide practical accounting and business advice to clients.Assist with business structuring, restructures and asset-protection considerations.Work with clients to improve accounting systems, processes and financial reporting.Use cloud accounting technology to improve efficiency and visibility for clients.Build strong ongoing relationships with business owners and act as a trusted point of contact.Liaise with the ATO and other external parties on behalf of clients.Manage jobs from commencement through to completion, including budgets, deadlines and client communication.Review work prepared by Accountants and Graduate Accountants and provide constructive feedback.Coach and mentor junior team members and contribute to their professional development.Work collaboratively with Managers, Partners and the broader advisory team to identify opportunities to provide additional value to clients.The Successful ApplicantA degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.CA or CPA qualification, or significant progress toward completion.Approximately 4-6+ years of experience in public practice accounting.Strong Australian taxation and business-services experience.Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for a range of entity types.Strong knowledge of GST, BAS and general business taxation matters.Experience using cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Confidence communicating directly with business owners and senior client stakeholders.Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs and deadlines.The ability to review and support the work of junior team members.An interest in progressing beyond traditional compliance accounting into business advisory.What's on OfferCompetitive salary package ranging from AUD120,000 to AUD140,000 + super.Permanent, full-time position based in South Melbourne.If you are ready to move forward in your accounting career, we encourage you to apply.ContactSebastian FreelandQuote job refJN-092026-7107656Phone number+61386166242Job summaryFunctionAccounting & FinanceSpecialisationFinancial AccountingIndustryBusiness ServicesLocationInternationalJob TypePermanentConsultant nameSebastian FreelandConsultant phone+61386166242Job ReferenceJN-092026-7107656Work from HomeWork from Home or Hybrid
