This role will see you undertaking comprehensive and detailed analysis of generation, storage and load connections to the electricity distribution network. As part of the shift to renewable energy across our electricity distribution network you will be expected to undertake the technical studies required by connections under chapter 5 and chapter 5A of the National Electricity Rules to accelerate our growth to a sustainable future.

  • Work on projects both sub and above 5MW in scale.

Our client is a a major Australian energy delivery business that owns and operates electricity and gas distribution networks as well as the state-wide electricity transmission network in Victoria.

Job Description

  • Manage grid connection processes for renewable energy projects - both sub and above 5MW scales.
  • Develop and review technical documentation for compliance with grid codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with network service providers and regulatory bodies to secure grid approvals.
  • Perform grid modelling and simulations to assess project feasibility.
  • Provide technical support during project design, construction and commissioning phases.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to grid connections.
  • Ensure all grid connection activities meet project timelines and budgets.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, standards and emerging technologies.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Grid Connection Engineer should have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering - power systems or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of grid connection processes and energy regulations for both sub 5 and above 5MW scales.
  • Experience with grid modelling software and tools such as SINCAL or similar.
  • Proven ability to work with network service providers and regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
