We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join a leading mining organisation on a temporary 3-month contract with the possibility of long-term opportunities. Reporting to the Manager Finance, you will play a key role in providing reports to senior stakeholders, financial modelling and a broad range of management and financial accounting.

About Our Client

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded ASX listed organisation operating within the mining and construction sector. With a strong focus on operational excellence, safety and project delivery, they provide critical services to mining operations across Australia. This role will be responsible for month-end accounting, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and providing commercial support to operational stakeholders.

Job Description

  • Manage end-of-month accounting activities for assigned projects, including transaction reviews, journal entries and reporting.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for key stakeholders.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial records.
  • Review weekly project transactions and investigate variances where required.
  • Support corporate consolidation reporting processes.
  • Analyse financial performance, monitor project costs and provide commercial insights.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with operational and project teams to provide financial support and improve business performance.
  • Contribute to financial modelling, forecasting and ad hoc commercial analysis.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Management Accountant should have:

  • The ability to start immediately or within short notice.
  • A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CA or CPA qualified.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in management or financial accounting within a commercial environment.
  • Experience using SAP S/4HANA essential.
  • Strong month-end accounting, journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
  • Proven ability to prepare and analyse financial reports.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
  • Previous exposure to mining, resources, contracting or project-based environments will be highly regarded.
