We’ve asked more than 2,700 clients from the nation’s major industries to tell us about employment and salaries in their sectors.

After adding our own industry knowledge at Michael Page, the following is a brief overview of what’s happening in the sales sector:

  • Hiring activity; sales recruitment activity is currently improving across Australia, with Victoria home to particularly strong increases over the past 12 months
  • Regional outlook; recruitment for permanent roles decreased in NSW and Queensland and employers around the country are split on whether they expect to see growth in their teams this year
  • Remuneration forecasts; pay rises are likely across the board, with 73% of those surveyed saying they expect their direct employees to receive salary increases and 84% expecting bonuses this year
  • Current salary snapshot; our report shows a business development manager in the media and entertainment sector can expect to earn upwards of $70k, while sales executives in IT and technology can start at around $50k
