As a Collections Officer, you'll be responsible for managing outstanding accounts and following up overdue payments while providing a positive and professional customer experience. You'll work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to understand account issues, resolve queries and agree on practical solutions to bring accounts up to date.

Job Description

  • Managing a portfolio of outstanding customer accounts.
  • Contacting customers by phone and email to follow up overdue payments.
  • Working with customers to understand their circumstances and agree on appropriate payment solutions.
  • Setting up and monitoring payment arrangements.
  • Investigating account discrepancies and resolving billing or payment queries.
  • Allocating and reconciling payments where required.
  • Maintaining accurate notes and records of collection activity.
  • Escalating complex or significantly overdue accounts when appropriate.
  • Working closely with finance and other internal teams to resolve customer account issues.
  • Supporting aged debt reporting and helping the team meet collection targets.
  • Providing a professional, respectful and customer-focused experience throughout the collections process.

The Successful Applicant

  • Previous experience in collections, credit control, accounts receivable or a similar role.
  • Confidence managing a portfolio of outstanding accounts.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • The ability to have sensitive or challenging conversations professionally.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate account discrepancies.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with financial information.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on outstanding matters.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to help the wider team.
