Our client is a well-established and growing retail organisation based in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs. With a strong market presence and a fast-paced environment, the business is seeking an experienced finance leader to oversee the accounting function and support strategic decision-making.

Job Description

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and finance operations.
  • Oversee month-end, year-end and group financial reporting activities.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning processes.
  • Prepare financial analysis and reporting packs for senior leadership.
  • Oversee BAS preparation, taxation reporting and statutory compliance.
  • Manage group accounting, including consolidated reporting and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Review profit centre performance and provide commercial insights to support decision-making.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and oversee balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Liaise with external accountants, banking partners and regulatory bodies.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and enhance finance systems and controls.
  • Ensure payroll processes and broader finance operations are completed accurately and on time.

  • Partner closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making and business growth.
  • Take ownership of the organisation's financial performance, delivering accurate reporting, meaningful analysis and actionable recommendations.
  • Drive the budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning processes, helping to shape the commercial direction of the business.
  • Oversee group reporting, statutory compliance and taxation obligations, ensuring strong governance and financial integrity.
  • Evaluate business and profit centre performance, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Lead financial planning initiatives, scenario modelling and business performance reviews to support growth and investment decisions.
  • Strengthen financial controls, risk management frameworks and balance sheet governance across the organisation.
  • Build trusted relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, banking partners, advisers and regulatory bodies.
  • Champion finance transformation projects, leveraging systems, automation and process improvements to enhance capability and scalability.
  • Ensure the finance function operates as a strategic business partner, delivering both operational excellence and commercial value across the organisation.
