This Fixed Asset Manager role is responsible for overseeing the acquire-to-retire asset lifecycle, ensuring accurate capitalisation, reporting, compliance and stakeholder engagement across the business. The position offers significant exposure to senior leaders, major CAPEX projects and the opportunity to streamline process within a complex, multi-brand environment

Job Description

    • Take ownership of the fixed asset accountinglifecycle, managing assets from initial acquisition through to retirement and disposal.
    • Provide financial support for CAPEX planning, including the development, review and monitoring of business cases and capital projects in progress.
    • Apply accounting standards to assess and appropriately allocate expenditure between capital and operating costs.
    • Coordinate the efficient transfer of completed project costs into the fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
    • Work closely with project managers and business stakeholders to track project progress, spending trends and forecast completion costs.
    • Analyse monthly financial performance against approved budgets, identifying key drivers and communicating insights to stakeholders.
    • Maintain robust accounting records for store development projects, refurbishments, technology investments and other corporate capital initiatives.
    • Partner with finance, tax and operational teams to ensure adherence to accounting policies, reporting obligations and capitalisation requirements.
    • Drive continuous improvement across asset and project accounting processes, enhancing controls, governance and operational effectiveness.
    • Produce insightful reporting and presentations for executive stakeholders, leadership forums and governance bodies.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Fixed Assets Manager should have:

    • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).
    • More than eight years of accounting experience, including recent exposure to project accounting, capital projects, or fixed asset accounting.
    • Sound understanding of accounting standards and regulatory requirements relating to capital expenditure, asset capitalisation, and fixed asset management.
    • Demonstrated experience overseeing the full asset lifecycle, from initial business case evaluation and project delivery through to capitalisation, depreciation, and asset disposal.
    • Proven capability to build credibility with and influence senior leaders and key business stakeholders.
    • Highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to prepare insightful financial reports and deliver clear presentations to diverse audiences.
    • Previous experience in retail or similarly project-intensive environments.
    • Track record of driving process optimisation, operational improvements, and successful change initiatives.
