Join a well-established public sector organisation as a Management Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting a dynamic operational portfolio. You will lead month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and stakeholder engagement while delivering meaningful financial insights that drive business performance.

About Our Client

Our client is a highly regarded public sector organisation with a strong focus on innovation, service delivery and operational excellence. With a collaborative finance team and a large, complex operating environment, they are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to provide high-quality financial support and reporting across a key business portfolio.

Job Description

  • Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments.
  • Manage monthly financial close activities and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and provide meaningful financial analysis to stakeholders.
  • Analyse actual results against budgets and forecasts, identifying key variances and trends.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning processes.
  • Prepare financial commentary and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Perform balance sheet and subsidiary ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Assist with year-end reporting, audits and annual reporting requirements.
  • Partner with operational stakeholders and provide advice on financial management, compliance and reporting matters.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancement projects.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Management Accountant should have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional membership or progress towards CPA or CA qualifications.
  • Proven capability in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Strong month-end accounting experience, including journals and reconciliations.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as Oracle or Navision, highly desirable.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work with complex financial data.
  • Experience within a large, complex organisation will be highly regarded.
