This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a leading gold mining organisation on a 15-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. Working within a supportive payroll team, you'll manage payroll processing, reconciliations, employee queries, and payroll administration across a workforce of approximately 2,000 employees while gaining exposure to Workday and process improvement initiatives.

Job Description

  • Processing payroll-related transactions including PAYG, superannuation, child support deductions, and novated leases
  • Managing employee expense claims and payroll adjustments
  • Supporting fortnightly, monthly, and off-cycle payroll processing
  • Conducting payroll reconciliations, validations, and audits
  • Calculating overpayments and unpaid leave adjustments
  • Investigating and resolving payroll queries through the payroll ticketing system
  • Assisting with payroll amendments and reconciliations across a high-volume environment
  • Supporting payroll process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and documentation updates
  • Working closely with Senior Payroll Officers to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery

The Successful Applicant

  • A minimum of 2 year's payroll experience within a medium to large organisation
  • Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data reconciliation
  • Experience managing payroll queries and working within service ticketing environments
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume payroll function
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Exposure to mining, resources, or FIFO payroll environments will be highly regarded
  • Experience supporting payroll projects, process improvements, system upgrades, or documentation initiatives will be advantageous
