We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join a busy Financial Reporting team on a six-month fixed-term contract. This role will play a critical part in supporting month-end reporting, year-end financial statements, audit activities, financial controls and consolidation reporting across multiple entities.

Job Description

  • Lead and support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements and supporting disclosures.
  • Assist with the consolidation of multiple subsidiary entities, including elimination entries and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and key P&L accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislation, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting framework.
  • Provide technical accounting advice and support on complex reporting matters.
  • Assist in planning for year-end reporting and audit deliverables.
  • Support financial reporting transformation, process improvement, and system enhancement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across finance and broader business teams to ensure reporting deadlines are achieved.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Financial Accountant should have:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accreditation such as CPA or CA preferred.
  • 4-5+ years' experience in financial reporting, statutory reporting, or financial accounting.
  • Exposure to Oracle or comparable ERP systems highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, consolidations, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
  • Strong technical accounting capability and understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Open to candidates from a range of industries including mining, commercial, and other complex organisations.
